Back the bid and bring the 2013 Rugby League World Cup to Warrington! - CONTINUATION OF E-PETITION



We would like to express our support for the ‘host bid’ to bring the 2013 Rugby League World Cup games to Warrington.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS PETITION IS NOT A POLITICAL CAMPAIGN AND THE FINAL DECISION WILL BE MADE BY THE RUGBY FOOTBALL LEAGUE (RFL), NOT WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Rugby League World Cup is  being held in England and Wales in October and November 2013 and Warrington is leading a bid to host matches at The Halliwell Jones Stadium, and potentially provide accommodation and training facilities for competing nations. Warrington has a long and proud tradition as a rugby town and we can submit a first-class bid. This is not just our bid, it’s yours too. So show your support and help us bring this prestigious  wordwide event to Warrington. The  Rugby Football League, as the event organiser, will make the final decision on the winning bids and their announcement will be at the end of November.

A big thank you for backing Warrington’s bid to be a host town for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup. Today we found out the fantastic news that Warrington has been successful! The Halliwell Jones Stadium will host a group match and quarter-final. The town will also host a team base camp and the University of Chester will be used as a team training venue. Of all the bids submitted, Warrington’s was one of only four judged to be outstanding. Over 3,000 residents in total signed the e-petition or text in their support for the bid over the past few months and we would like to thank you again for getting behind the bid - it really made the difference.
